British indie-rock-pop outfit My Glass World return with new single ‘This Perfect Summer’, released Friday 4 September via Luxury Noise Records.

The track is taken from the band’s forthcoming album ‘Extraordinary Renditions’, out Friday 18 September 2026, and lands as track seven on the record. Written by Jamie Telford, ‘This Perfect Summer’ is anything but a simple seasonal escape. Beneath its almost idyllic title sits a sharp, vivid portrait of heat, collapse and environmental unease.
"“This Perfect Summer” was written long before the crisis we all face in this “Long Hot Summer” to paraphrase a different song.
This Perfect Summer seems prescient, but obviously the effects of unforetold weather events were destined to happen soon.
Before we pretended a Mediterranean Climate is all we wanted in Britain at least, take a look at what’s been happening everywhere, as disaster after disaster unfolds..
Every part of the world suffers as the likes of Trump et al say the Climate crisis is all fake news while sticking their collective heads in the sand."
Opening with “Mercury rising, and its fire outside”, the song quickly turns from summer postcard into warning flare: dead birds fall from the sky, crops fail, roads shimmer into nowhere, water disappears and smoke darkens the daylight. It is a song of burning forests, failing seasons and a world sleepwalking through its own emergency.
The accompanying video, created by Simon Miles, mirrors that contrast. Images of normal, happy life are set against darker, fractured scenes of forests and cities burning, dead fish in waterways and a landscape pushed beyond repair. The result is both beautiful and unsettling — a visual companion that captures the song’s tension between everyday life and impending crisis.
Recorded at Luxury Noise in Scotland and Famous Times in London, ‘This Perfect Summer’ features Jamie Telford on vocals, assorted keyboards and treble recorder, Sean Read on backing vocals and saxes, Jimi Scandal on electric and acoustic guitars, Ali Friend on acoustic stand-up bass and Martyn Kaine on drums.
The single follows ‘We’re All The Same’, continuing the path towards ‘Extraordinary Renditions’ — My Glass World’s eighth album and the fifth full-length collaboration between Jamie Telford and Sean Read. The album was recorded quickly across a handful of sessions, with songs generally started in Scotland and finished at Famous Times in London.
As ever with My Glass World, the subject matter is direct but never one-dimensional. ‘This Perfect Summer’ carries a deceptively bright title into darker territory, balancing groove, atmosphere and lyrical bite with the band’s distinctive sense of reflection and unease.
